BEIJING, China – Jamaica’s Simoya Campbell and Natoya Goule both failed to advance beyond the heats of the 800 metres at the World Championships here inside the Bird Nest Stadium.

Campbell led for most of the race, but faded badly in the final 100 metres to finish fifth 2:01.43 minutes as Sofia Ennaoui of Poland won in 2:01.16 with Rose Mary Almanza of Cuba finish second in 2:01.33 and Luci Klocova of Slovakia third in 2:01.35.

Goule also led for most of her heat but was passed in the latter stages to finish fourth in 2:02.37 minutes. Fabienne Kohlmann of Germany won in 2:01.42 with Joanna Jozwik of Poland and Shelayna Oskan-Clarke of Great Britain finish second and third in 2:01.62 and 2:01.72 respectively. Guyana’s Andrea Foster was eight and last in 2:17.39.
