Jamaica ended the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championships with more than 50 per cent less medals than host Mexico (Click here for Full Results).

At the three-day Championships, which concluded on Sunday in Morelia, Mexico, Jamaica will return home with 43 medals, 15 gold, 17 silver and 11 bronze. Mexico topped the medals’ table with 100 medals, 36 gold, 43 silver and 21 bronze.

Trinidad & Tobago ended with 10 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze for 22 medals, just ahead of The Bahamas with 20 medals – 7 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze. Barbados 3G, 2S, 3B; Bermuda 2G, 2B; Anguilla 2G; Grenada 1G, 1B; Cayman Islands 1G; Antigua and Barbuda 1S 1B and Saint Kitts And Nevis 1B were the other english speaking Caribbean countries with medals.

On Sunday’s final day, Jamaica managed gold in only one of four mile relay finals, the Under-20 men quartet of Ivan Henry, Twayne Crooks, Marvin Williams and Rajay Hamilton got the job done in 3:11.20.

Trinidad & Tobago won the Under-18 boys 4×4 in 3:13.93 ahead of Bahamas 3:14.70 and Jamaica 3:16.27. 

Mexico dominated the female section, winning the Under-20 category in 3:45.49 ahead Jamaica 3:47.25 and the Under18 final in 3:50.53 as Jamaica got disqualified.

Trinidad & Tobago’s Machel Cedenio won the men’s Under-20 400m in 45.28 while Cayman Islands’ ran 47.01 to erased Usain Bolt’s 2002 record of 47.12 in the Under-18 devision. 

Monique McPherson, who won the 800m on day 1, added the Under-20 women’s 400m title on Sunday in 55.54. Faheemah Scraders of Bermuda took the girls’ Under-18 event. Click here for Full Results
