Dr. Walton Small, president of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (ISSA), yesterday refused to confirm or denyCalabar’s late registration and eligibility form for next month’s Boys and Girls Championships.
Information reaching Trackalerts.Com is that Calabar’s registration and eligibility form did not reach offices at last Friday’s 4pm cut off time. Calabar High School is walking distance from ISSA's office.
When contacted, Dr. Small, who was far from being friendly, said "They (Calabar) are in."
However, asked if the form was received by the 4pm deadline on Friday 21 Feb 2014, Dr. Small repeated “Calabar High School is in" before the call was ended abruptly.
George Forbes, ISSA's competition's director offered "no comment" when contacted about the matter while Calabar High's coach Michael Clarke could not be reached for comment.
The registration and eligibility form is to indicate the athletes from which the final team for Champs must be submitted to ISSA by March 10, 2014.
Calabar have two of the biggest names, World Championships 1600m relay silver medallist Javon Francis and World Youth 200m champion Michael O'Hara, in high school track and field.
