Jaheel Hyde ran his first 400m hurdles race at Saturday’s Carifta Games Trials at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Hyde, the World Junior champion over the one lap obstacle, topped the preliminaries in 51.97 seconds.
The sixth form student at Wolmer’s High was very easy and comfortable ahead of Robin Black of St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) 56.01 in heat 1 of 3.
Marvin Williams of STETHS won heat 2 in 52.62 ahead of Orlando Smith of Kingston College (KC) 52.95.
Davian Baker of Kingston College (KC) took heat 3 in 53.83 ahead of Kurth Collins of St. Andrew Technical (STATHS) 54.51.
