STORRS, Conn. – (Press Release) Trisha-Ann Hawthorne, one of UConn’s most decorated athletes, has been named an assistant coach for the University of Connecticut women’s track and field program, head coach J.J. Clark announced on Tuesday.

Hawthorne, who competed as a sprinter for the Huskies from 2007-11, makes the transition into coaching after serving in Connecticut’s compliance office, assisting student-athletes in gaining knowledge of the rules and regulations that govern the institution's intercollegiate athletics program.

The Elmsford, N.Y. native will coach alongside first-year leader Clark as well as associate head coach Clive Terrelonge. In addition to her duties on the track, Hawthorne will assist the program in recruiting, as well as aid in the completion of administrative activities.

"Happy would be the word to choose upon accepting the position,” said Hawthorne. " I feel honored to work alongside two great, experienced and knowledgeable coaches. The best part is being able to work with a program I was once a student-athlete of as well. I'm looking forward to a great season for the program as a whole."

"We're thrilled to add Trisha-Ann Hawthorne to our staff," commented Clark. "She brings a wealth of expierence on the track and comes from a compliance and administrative background. She rounds out our staff and we're excited to have her on board as we get ready to begin the indoor season."
