Yashawn Hamilton said he wasn’t at his best, but happy to give his team maximum points on Thursday’s second day of #taChamps.

Hamilton won the Class 2 boys’ Long Jump with a leap of 7.01m.

“The jump wasn’t my best,” he said while adding “I went out there and did my best on the day.”

“I was looking for about 7.3 metres, the least, but what came I just took it and say that’s it,” added Hamilton.

The new champion ran the 200m heats in between his jumps.

Asked how challenging that was for him, he replied, “I have 100m tomorrow too, so you just have to be mentally strong for this."

“I am carrying a lot of points for my team to make sure that we win Champs,” he said of the honour given him, to represent his school.
