Haile Gebrselassie Advocates for Improved Sports Infrastructure in East Africa
Legendary long-distance runner Haile Gebrselassie urges East African nations to invest in improved stadiums and sports facilities

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – Olympic and World champion and running legend Haile Gebrselassie has been elected as the new president of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation.

“I am very honoured that they trust me in this position. I am looking forward to work together with all people involved in the EAF to work on a great future for Ethiopian athletics”.

He secured nine out of 15 votes. The other candidates were from regional federations Dagnachew Shferaw, Tefera Molla and Woldegebrel Mezgebu.

In the newly created executive committee also as athletes representatives Sileshi Sihine with Meseret Defar.

As elected member also former World CC Champion Gebre Gebremariam.
