British Athletics today named their men’s and women’s teams for both the 4x100m and 4x400m to compete at the II IAAF/BTC World Relay Championships to be held in Nassau, Bahamas, May 2-3.

The male 4x100m aggregation features many of the athletes who won relay gold medals at last year’s European Championships. These include world indoor 60m champion Richard Kilty along with James Ellington and Danny Talbot, who were part of Britain’s bronze medal team at last year’s World Relays.

Ashleigh Nelson, Anyika Onuora, Asha Philip – who formed three quarters of the team that broke the national record last year – will be joined in the 4x100m set-up by European 200m silver medalist Jodie Williams and Commonwealth 200m bronze medalist Bianca Williams.

European 400m champion Martyn Rooney leads the men’s 4x400m team, alongside fellow European relay gold medalist Conrad Williams and 400m hurdles specialist Jack Green.

Eilidh Child, the European 400m hurdles champion, will feature in the women’s 4x400m backed up by European indoor 400m bronze medallist Seren Bundy-Davies.

“We are looking to build on our relay success from 2014 and this competition will once again provide a vital opportunity to prepare teams for the 2015 World Championships and beyond,” said British Athletics performance director Neil Black. “It is also a gateway to qualify for Rio 2016,” he added.

He further explained. “It will also give us a chance to look at the depth of the squads as a number of athletes have not been available for selection. I’m looking forward to see how some of the athletes take this opportunity on the world stage. I’m sure the team will rise to the occasion in the wonderful Caribbean setting of The Bahamas.”
