Steven Gardiner set a new Bahamian record at a small meeting in Alachua, Florida on Sunday (5 July).
Gardiner, at last week’s B3R Sports Invitational, ran 31.95, falling short of Chris ‘Fireman’ Brown’s national record of 31.91 that he posted in 2007 in Osaka, Japan.
However, the Doha 2019 World 400m champion, put together a better race on Sunday. He ran 31.83 to beat Asa Guevara of Trinidad and Tobago, 32.60 and Quantavious Poole, 33.48.
Gardiner shared on Facebook, “New National Record Today In The 300m.”
“Congrats to Steven Gardiner on his (300m – 31.83 – 1st) a new Bahamian national record,” Gardiner’s On Track Management team tweeted.
