KINGSTON – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Asafa Powell, Elaine Thompson-Herah and Yohan Blake are among the high profiled athletes set to compete at Saturday’s (17 April) Velocity Fest 9.
Velocity Fest LIVE Streaming will be on Trackalerts.com’s Facebook and YouTube Pages, starting at 9 am from the National Stadium.
Fraser-Pryce, the Doha 2019 world 100m champion, will run the women’s 200m. She faces Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Anastasia Le-Roy and Tiffany James in heat 2/2.
Michael Harriot, Junelle Bromfield, Jodean Williams and Indian Srabani Nanda are also in heat 2.
Twin sisters Tina and Tia Clayton, Brianna Lyston, Brandy Hall, Joanne Reid, and Thennelle Williams will compete in heat 1.
Thompson-Herah, the Rio 2016 Olympic sprint double champion, faces Remona Burchell and Jura Levy in heat 1 of the women’s 100m.
Natasha Morrison, Shimayra Williams, Yanique Thomspon and Edwin Allen’s schoolgirl Serena Cole are the big names in heat 2.
Powell, who once held the world 100m record, will run in heat 4 of that sprint event against Michael Campbell, Tyreke Wilson, Ramone Barnswell and Edward Clake.
In the sixth and final heat, Blake, the 2011 world champion, faces a strong field that includes Oblique Seville, Oshane Bailey, Miguel Francis and Andrew Fisher.
Jevaughn Minzie, Dexter Lee, Nigel Ellis, Michael Stephens, Delano Williams and Jazeel Murphy are other noticeable names for the men’s 100m.
Shericka Jackson, Christine Day, Janieve Russell, Ronda Whyte, Roneisha McGregor and Tovea Jenkins are in the women’s 400m.
In the field, world champion Tajay Gayle will compete in the long jump, and Shanieka Ricketts, the silver medallist from Doha 2019, will be in the triple jump.
Fedrick Dacres, also a Doha medallist, has entered the discus against Traves Smile and Kai Chang.
