KINGSTON, Jamaica – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce opened her season with an impressive run over 60 metres here at the Queens/Grace Jackson Track Meet on Saturday (Jan 31) at the National Stadium.
Fraser-Pryce, the World Indoor 60m champion and World sprint double champion, won the event in 7.13 seconds, two hundredth of a second slower than 2014.
“It felt okay,” Fraser-Pryce said. “Hopefully I did what was expected of me,” she added while saying she will speak to the coach on Monday about the run.
Elaine Thompson, Fraser-Pryce’s training partner, was second in 7.33.
In the men’s event, Nesta Carter won in 6.53 ahead of his training partners Julian Forte 6.58 and Kimarley Brown 6.59.
