At Wednesday’s (15 July) Hokuren Distance meet, Kenyan Monicah Wanjiru raced to a world-leading 30:38.18 in the 10,000m.

Wanjiru, who was fourth in Doha 2019 World Championships, beat Tokyo bound marathon Olympian Mao Ichiyama 31:23.30.

In men´s top race, Jonathan Ndiku 27:23.47 beat Alexander Mutiso 27:44.37 and Richard Yator 27:49.35.

Olympic marathon bound Yuma Hattori was fourth with a personal best 27:56.32.

Benard Koech won the 5000m in 13:11.77, clearly ahead of Vincent Yegon 13:20.39 and Shu Hasegawa 13:28.30, a new personal best.

Japanese talent Nozomi Tanaka won the 5000m in 15:02.62 over Hellen Ekarare 15:03.09 and Joan Chepkemoi 15:04.32.

Fourth Kaede Hagitani 15:05.78 PB. Cynthia Baire (18) from Kenya clocked 8:56.05 PB in the 3000 m.
