Burnaby, B.C. – Tonight (10 July), at the Harry Jerome International Track Classic, the fourth and final stop of the 2014 National Track League, Dylan Armstrong will officially receive his bronze medal from the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships, held in Doha, Qatar.
Last August the IAAF announced a lifetime ban effective August 2005 for shot putter Andrei Mikhnevich of Belarus. The implications of the lifetime ban were huge for Armstrong as he finished fourth, behind Mikhnevich, at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Dylan will be presented with the medal during a break in action at the Harry Jerome in front of thousands of fans, friends and family. "I'm extremely pleased to receive the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships bronze medal. I remember it being a very strong field, and I set a Canadian indoor record in the final, Doha was very memorable for me." The thrower from Kamloops, B.C., adds, "I would also like to say once again how my coach, Dr. Bondarchuk, once again has proven that his modern training systems are very effective and have been a total success for me and Athletics Canada. Without him, none of my medals would have been achieved, a big thank you to him.

This will be Dylan's third World Championship medal, he won silver at the 2011 and bronze at the 2013 World outdoor Championships. His impressive resume also includes gold at the 2007 Pan American Games and gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Dylan also finished first in the shot put in the 2010 Diamond League and holds the Canadian indoor
and outdoors records.
