A small contingent of 3 athletes and Coach attended and participated in the 34th Club Colonial 
International meet in Martinique on 10th May, 2014 and flew Dominica’s flag high. There were positive results coming from this meet in Martinique. We had two Personal Best (PB) performances, one national record, a first, second, and fifth place. 

Andre Bazil – 1st in men Javelin with 62.77m 
Mac Naguirre Suares – 2nd in men 800m 1:53.56sec PB 
Camran Carbon – 5th in men 800m 1:58.83sec – new national record u-18/PB [Student at GSS and member of PAC].

Mac Naguirre Squares (Pioneers Athletics Club) [PAC] 

Both Mac Naguirre and Andre are senior national athletes and leaders in their disciplines trying to qualify for the 2014 Commonwealth Games scheduled for 23rd July to 3rd August 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland. Camran is our leading youth distance runner who now holds the national records in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m in the under 18 category. He is a member of the National team which will participate in the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships scheduled for Mexico from 5th to 6th July, 2014. Below is a picture of the entire team at the games. 

In more news a three member team on Saturday 10th May left Dominica to participate in an International Track and Field meet in Guadeloupe on the same day. The team comprised of Derick St. Jean of Pioneers Athletics Club (400m men) Justin Alexander of Wesmar Rangers Athletics Club (400m men) Kerael Matthews of Athon Athletics Club (100m men) Smith Telemaque Coach 
The results were as follows: Derick St. Jean placed 2nd in the 400m Regional 48.86sec PB 
Justin Alexander placed 7th in 400m Regional 52.50 
Kerael Matthew placed 4th in 100m Regional 11.43 
 
At home in Dominica the DAAA had it 10km qualifying run to select its representative for the CARICOM 10km scheduled for Antigua on 29th June, 2014. The race was held in the Kalinago territory and was won by Darison Joseph of the Kalinago Eagles 40:49.3 
 2nd Damien Lucien of Kalinago Eagles 41:38.0 

3rd Jazan Laurent Aithon Athletics Club 44:18.0 
 
In closing, the DAAA has scheduled its National Championship for 18th May but is trying to secure a playing field for that day.
