STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Kim Collins beat Mike Rodgers in the men’s 60m here at Wednesday’s (17 Feb) Globen Galan (3rd meet of IAAF World Indoor Tour).

Collins, St. Kitts and Nevis’ 2003 World 100m champion, won the final in 6.56 ahead of two US sprinters Mike Rodgers 6.58 and Joe Morris 6.59.

“Getting away slow is better than being disqualified,” Collins was quoted as the IAAF website saying.
“But I wanted to run better than that. When you see the crowd excited like they are tonight, you want to have a great run. It didn’t happen – but there you are," added Collins, who turned 40 in April.

Collins did 6.58 and Rodgers 6.62 in the heats.

In the women’s 200m, American Jeneba Tarmoh finished in 23.38, just edging out Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye 23.39.

Dutch Lisanne De Witte was a surprise 400m winner in 53.21 ahead of Aauri Lorena Bokesa of Spain 53.23.
