PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Machel Cedenio and Cleoptra Borel were named the First Citizens Sports Foundation Sportsman and woman of Trinidad and Tobago for 2015 at the Trinidad Hyatt Regency Hotel last evening (Sunday, March 13).

Cedenio took his maiden men's title after his seventh place finish in the men's 400m finals at the 2015 World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Beijing, China last August. The 20 year old also anchored T&T's men's 4x400m team to silver in a national record of 2:58.20. The 2014 World Junior champion also picked up silver in the men's one lap finals at the Pan American Games in Toronto and anchored T&T to a sensational victory in the 4x400m race. In 2015 he also clocked a new pb in the 400m of 44.36 to move up to joint-second on the T&Tall-time list.

Borel copped her fifth Sportswoman title after her gold medal performance in the women's shot put at the Pan American Games. The national indoor and outdoor record holder took the Pan Am gold after claiming  bronze in 2007 and silver in 2011.  She also qualified for her second World Outdoor finals at the World Championships in Beijing. 

T&T's gold medal Pan American 4x400m team of Cedenio,  Renny Quow, Emmanuel Mayers and Jarrin Solomon  was named Team of the Year while the NAAA (T&T's local track and field body) was named Best Sporting Organisation of the Year.
