Briana Williams admitted the last couple months has been “tough” but now “can’t wait to be in Doha” the host city for the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019.

“It’s been a tough time,” Williams admitted while saying “thank you guys so much (for the support).”

Williams escaped with a public reprimand for a failed drug test at Jamaica Trials in June 2019.

The decision was handed down today (26 Sept) by the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (IADP) panel, chaired by Kent Gammon and included Dr Marjorie Vassell and Ms Denise Forrest.

“The IADP finds that the athlete has established no significant fault or negligence as she was given tablets by her guardian and had no intention to cheat in her In-Competition sprint event on 21 Jun 2019,” said the IADP in a release.

Williams, who ran 10.94 for third behind Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at the Jamaica Trials, is thrilled with the outcome.

“I really can not stop crying. I was sleeping and (when) I woke up and got a call,” Williams in a video post on her social media page.

“I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart, from the bottom my heart, for supporting me throughout this crazy roller coaster ……” she said.

“I am just so happy, and I can’t wait to be in Doha,” added Williams.

Williams, despite the provisional suspension, was named in Jamaica’s team to contest the women’s 100m in Doha.
