Bolt, who failed to break 10 seconds before today’s event, won in 9.87 seconds into a negative headwind of 1.2m/s. Bolt, who was also slow out of the blocks, stopped run after about 80m.

American Mike Rodgers followed Bolt across the line into second; his time 9.92 while Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis did 10.02 for third.

In the first heat, Kemar Bailey-Cole came out on top with 10.02 ahead of Jimmy Vicaut of France 10.05 and fellow Jamaican Nesta Carter, 10.08.
