Usain Bolt has hailed as “amazing” Akeem Bloomfield’s record performance in the Class 1 boys 400m final at Champs on Saturday.
Bolt, minutes after the race, tweeted “44.93 in 400m #AkeemBlomfield #Champs2015#amazig.”

Bloomfield ran 44.93 seconds to win the Class 1 boys 400m final at Champs on Saturday. The mark beat the National Junior Record of 45.21 held by Davian Clarke and 45.00 for the Champs record set by Javon Francis in 2014.

“OMG Jamaica our future looks good!,” was the comment of Yohan Blake, the 2011 World 100m champion.

Warren Weir, the Olympic Games 200m silver medallist, said “44.93 I'm loving that.”

As for Bloomfield, he went out fast to “discourage (throw) everyone (off) from the get go.”
“I ran a fast first 250m and when I was coming home, I realized I had a lot more to give,” said the 100/200 sprinter, who was installed in the 400m for strength work.
