Yohan Blake wins his heat of men's 100m at the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019

DOHA, Qatar – Yohan Blake booked his place in the men’s 100m final, set for today (28 Sept – 2:25 pm (Jamaica time), here at the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019.

Blake, who looked comfortable looking across to his right, finished second in 10.09, the same time as Justin Gatlin, but Andre De Grasse, 10.07.

American favourite Christian Coleman ran the semi-final’s fastest time of 9.88 to secure his place. South African Akani Simbine is the evening’s second fastest with 10.01.

Meanwhile, in the women’s 100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran the fastest ever first-round time of 10.80 to qualify for the semi-finals.
Elaine Thompson, 11.14 and Jonielle Smith, 11.20 are the other Jamaicans to advance.

Kelly-Ann Baptiste (TTO), 11.21 and Tynia Gaither (BAH), 11.24 are the other qualifiers from the Caribbean.

Defending champions Tori Bowie of USA qualified with 11.30.
