Jamaica’s Andrew Hudson set a new personal best time of 10.12 seconds (+0.8 m/s) to win the men’s 100-meter race at the 17th Annual Spring Break Classic held at the Pista Basilio Rodriguez Stadium in Carolina, Puerto Rico on Saturday, March 18th. Olympic champion Steven Gardiner was also impressive when winning the 300m in a very quick time.
Hudson’s time improved his previous lifetime best by 0.01 seconds and broke the previous meeting record of 10.32 seconds set by Yohandris Andujar in 2015, and the NACAC 200m champion, was pleased with his solid start to the season. – Read Also – Elaine Thompson-Herah wins Women’s 60m at Karsten Warholm Invitational
Puerto Rico’s Diego Gonzalez took second place with a personal best time of 10.30 seconds, and Rikkio Braithwaite from the British Virgin Islands finished third with a time of 10.32 seconds.
In the women’s 800m race, Aziza Ayoub from Puerto Rico won with a time of 2:06.17, breaking the meeting record. Her compatriot, Priscila Morales Escobales, finished second with a time of 2:07.17.
Anabel Medina from the Dominican Republic won the women’s 400m race with a time of 51.78 seconds. In the men’s 600m race, Ryan Sanchez Estrada from Puerto Rico won in 1:13.97, defeating Michael Cherry from the USA, who finished second with a time of 1:14.36.
On Friday, Olympic champion Steven Gardiner from The Bahamas won the men’s 300m after posting a fast time of 31.59 seconds to dominate the event in his outdoor season debut.
Two-time Commonwealth Games champion Kyron McMaster of the British Virgin Islands finished second to Gardiner with a time of 32.96 seconds.
