Texas A&M Aggies to Host Ted Nelson Invitational

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M has qualified 13 athletes in nine events for the NCAA Indoor Championships the Aggies will host on March 10-11 at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium. In men’s events Texas A&M will have seven athletes in five events while on the women’s side the Aggies will have six athletes in four events.

Current world leader Fred Kerley, who ran 44.94 in the 400m at the SEC Championships, headlines the Texas A&M men’s team along with his teammates on the world-leading 4×400 relay (3:02.39). Relay members include Richard Rose, Devin Dixon and Mylik Kerley.

Mylik joins his older brother Fred in qualifying for the 400m. Other Aggies in the men’s field include two-time SEC Indoor pole vault champion Audie Wyatt, Will Williams in the long jump and Lindon Victor, the defending NCAA decathlon champion, in the heptathlon.

Collegiate 800m record holder Jazmine Fray, who won the SEC 800m title last weekend, leads the Texas A&M women’s crew in the national championship meet and she is part of the world-leading 4×400 relay (3:29.74) which also includes Jaevin Reed, Danyel White and Kadecia Baird.

Aggie school record holder Emily Gunderson qualified in the pole vault while the Aggies will be represented by White and Diamond Spaulding in the 200m.

Updated national team computer rankings by USTFCCCA have the Texas A&M men ranked No. 4 with the women ranked No. 11 heading into the NCAA Indoor Championships. 

The top ten men’s teams include: 1. Florida, 2. Arkansas, 3. Oregon, 4. Texas A&M, 5. Georgia, 6. Alabama, 7. Virginia Tech, 8. Colorado, 9. Texas, and 10. USC. The women’s top 10 teams include: 1. Oregon, 2. Georgia, 3. Arkansas, 4. LSU, 5. Kentucky, 6. USC, 7. Alabama, 8. Texas, 9. Mississippi, and 10. Miami.
