Former USA track field star Carmelita Jeter will receive an honorary doctorate from California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).
Jeter, Daegu 2011 World 100m champion, will receive her honorary doctorate on May 17.
“Excited to present #CSUDH alumna @CarmelitaJeter with a @calstate Honorary Doctorate at our commencement ceremony on May 17,” wrote the school on their twitter page.
Jeter, who helped The USA to the London 2012 women’s 4x100m title, could not hold back the excitement in a broadcast on her social media page on Friday.
“The bestowed of this honorary doctoral degree is our way of acknowledging your significant contribution to the sport of track and field as a world record holder and three-time Olympic medallist,” quoted Jeter from the letter she received from CSUDH.
She continued: “Also for your accomplishment in business, motivational speaking, a training and nano coach at Missouri State University.
“Your commitment to giving back to your community, you represent the promise of CSUDH (California State University Dominguez Hills) education, drive and determination. ”
Jeter’s recated: “I’m so excited To receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree From @DominguezHills and I’ll be giving the Commencement Speech.”
Jeter won three Olympic Games medals, seven at the World Championships and one at the World Indoor Championships.
