Athletics Australia has approached the IAAF about hosting next year’s World Relays. The IAAF is searching for a new host after The Bahamas pulled out.

“We have reached out to the IAAF to see what it would take,” The Age quoted Athletics Australia chief executive Darren Gocher.

“We have also reached out to the government to see what interest there is because we would have to have government backing to fund an event of that nature.

Jamaica has also expressed an interest in hosting the event in 2019.

“We needed to know how realistic it was from a government point of view and the feedback was generally positive as it was from the IAAF they are prepared to be reasonably flexible,” said Gocher.
