The name Usain Bolt is synonymous with track and field. However, the little boy from Sherwood Content in Trelawny, who made his name through the sport, doesn’t want to same for his child.
Bolt, in an interview with The Times, said he would try to discourage his child from taking part in sports.
“I’m going to say no, initially,” Bolt said while adding if his children insist, “I will support it.”
Bolt, who is the undisputed king of track and field, announced on 23 January that he and Kaci Bennett are expecting a baby.
Bolt is the only athlete to win Olympic 100m and 200m titles at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012 and 2016). Also, he won two 4×100 relay gold medals.
Bolt, who is the world record holder in the 100m (9.58) and 200m (19.19), explained his reason behind not wanting his children in sports.
“…I think the pressure is going to be too much — especially at the level I left it. It’s going to be tough to follow.”
The holder of 13 World Championships medals, among them 11 gold, added: “You have to wait until they get to a certain age to explain to them that people are going to expect a lot from you, because of what I’ve done in the past,” he added.

Bad idea…sports is part of children development mentally and physically
It’s a delicate situation. Ultimately, it’s up to the child’ to decide. Plus, there is always other sports to compete in.
Joke thing that Bolt deh pon…u mek ur food from track and field, so don’t try to stop your child from doing the sport. Mi just no agree with the big man on this one star.
Maureen Williamson true. The child may turn out to be a decent athlete or she/ he may take up Jacks or the books. Let them try everything, their talent will guide them.

Allow your child to be who he wants to become with of course guidance. Don’t allow fear to prevent you or your child to live and soar. Bless you Usain ??
