PHILADELPHIA – Holmwood and Edwin Allen are into the Championship of America High School girls 4x800m final here at the 126th running of the Penn Relays.

On Thursday’s opening day, Holmwood with Cindy Rose, Jody Ann Michell, Samanth Pryce and Ysanne Peart carried Holmwood to victory in their heat – 9:23.48
Rose led off with 2:25.68. However, the 2:14.56 leg by Michell brought Holmwood back into the game.
William Penn Charter, the leader after the first leg with Olivia Montini, finished behind Holmwood in 9:26.88. Penncrest finished third in 9:30.76.
Edwin Allen, in another heat, finished second in 9:13.89 behind Union Catholic, 9:13.08.
Rushana Dwyer led off Edwin Allen with 2:17.58, about 10 meters behind Maameyaa Nyinah of Union Catholic. Jessica McLean, 2:18.48, Rickeisha Simms, 2:21.28 and Leanna Lewis, 2:16.57 were the other runners for Edwin Allen.
Edwin Allen will enter the final with the second-fastest time and Holmwood fifth.
