Gabby Thomas Drops 10.92, 21.69; Keni Harrison 12.32

The 94th edition of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays brought excellent results for top athletes, both pros (Gabby Thomas and Keni Harrison) and collegiate alike. Even when some performances came with too much wind, it is an indication of what to expect in the coming weeks.

Britton Wilson improved her 400-meter hurdles world lead in finals to 54.37 seconds; in the open race, Shamier Little clocked 56.77.

Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas clocked a windy 10.92 (w+2.9) and 21.69 (w+3.1) ahead of Tamara Clark’s 10.94 and 21.72.

World sprint hurdles record holder Keni Harrison posted a windy 12.32 (w+3.9) – and was also third in the windy 200 meters with 22.19 seconds – ahead of Christina Clemons (12.45), Tonea Marshall (12.45) and Cindy Sember, 12.72.

In the university finals, Alia Armstrong clocked 12.33 (w+2.5). British talent Toby Makoyawo went windy with 9.90 (+4.6, 10.12 PB in heats) in the 100 meters ahead of Devon Achane 10.02 (10.14 PB in heats) and Ismael Kone who did 10.03 (in heats legal 10.11 PB).

In the invitational, Marcellus Moore clocked 9.99 seconds (w+4.8). The women’s 100 meters had Celera Barnes in 10.82 (w+2.8) ahead of Jada Baylark (10.83). Courtney Lyndsey got 20.20 (+3.4) in the men´s 200 meters, and Eric Edwards recorded 13.24 (w+2.6) in the 110-meter hurdles.

Canadian Malik Metivier won the 400-meter hurdles in 49.15 (PB), while David Kendziera clocked 49.20 seconds in the invitational race.

Florida with mixed nationalities went 38.47 world lead in the 4×100 relay, Star Athletic (Frenchman Fall, Canadians J. Blake and A. Brown with Liberian Matadi) recorded 38.50 in the other race.

Texas clocked a 4×200-meter relay world-leading 1:20.80; in the 4×400 relay there was a world lead for Tiger Olympians Downing, Cherry, Norwood and Terry in 2:59.73 ahead of Hurdle Mechanic (Flournoy, Deadmon, London, Rossier) timed in 3:00.07.

Texas won the women’s 4×100-meter relay final in 42.83, but Star Athletic (Oliver, Terry, K. Johnson, Daniels) got the better of them in 42.68. The 4×200 and 4×400 relays saw world leads for Texas, 1:29.03 and 3:22.94, respectively. Second was Texas A&M in 3:23.30 and in the invitational section, USA Red (Little, Rogers, Muhammad, Mu) recorded 3:24.60.
