Jamaican sprinter Twayne Crooks passed away at the age of 23 from complications resulting from Stage 4 Stomach Cancer.
Crooks, a sophomore at Southern University New Orleans (SUNO), passed away the morning of September 1st, 2019.
Crooks competed for SUNO and won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor 400m title along being named the NAIA Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Crooks earned All American honours in the 2019 outdoor season in the 400m with a time of 46.73 and 4×400 races.
Twayne left his mark on the NAIA Indoor with a record time of 46.57s, set earlier this year at the Indoor Championships in Brookings South Dakota.
Crooks, a past student of Kingston College and Vere Technical, competed for Jamaica at the 2014 World Jr Championships in Eugene, Oregon where he won 4x400m bronze

How absolutely devastating!! He ran 46.57 earlier this year and died in September at 23!!?? I cant wrap my mind around those apparently contradictory facts.? My sympathies go out to his family.
