Ten athletes have been cleared to represent new countries by the IAAF.
The following can compete for their new countries with immediate effect: long-distance runner Adhanom Abraha (Eritrea to Sweden, already competed for Sweden at European CC in Tilburg), 400m runner Nick Ekelund-Arenander (Denmark to Sweden), female long-distance runner Samrawit Mengsteab (Eritrea to Sweden), steeple specialist Abdelhamid Zerrifi (Algeria to France), shot putter Otoniel Costa Badjana (Guinea-Bissau to Portugal), distance runner Mohamed Ali (Somalia to Netherlands), female 400/400 hurdler Yanique Haye-Smith (Jamaica to Turks and Caicos Islands) and sprinter Yunier Perez (Cuba to Spain).
USA’s middle distance runner Blake Haney will be eligible for Canada on 10 July 2019, while Greece’s javelin thrower Paraskevas Batzavalis will be eligible for Cyprus on 1 June 2021.
