TAMPERE, Finland – Shiann Salmon is happy to end “a very difficult race” with a silver medal. She won the 400m hurdles medal at the 16th IAAF World U20 Championships on July 13, 2018.

“That was a very difficult race for me but I’m glad I came through and ended up with silver,” Salmon, Jamaica’s team captain said after her 56.11secs performance.

She was beaten only by South African Zeney Van Der Walt, who won in 55.34.
“It was a tough race against the Jamaican,” said the winner.

But for Salmon, “I’m excited to be one of the best junior runners in the world.”
“I had a big season and now I know I can make my country proud,” Salmon said.
