Jamaica’s Olympic mile relay silver medallist Chrisann Gordon improved her personal best over 400m at Saturday’s (22 April) LSU Alumni Gold track and field meet.
Gordon, who did duties on the third leg of Jamaica’s silver medal 4x400m team in Rio 2016, covered the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in 50.64 seconds.
Representing Texas University, the 22-year-old, in her first 400m outdoors for the season, bettered her previous best of 51.02, done last year in San Salvador.
The former Jamaica Junior and Holmwood Technical star led the race from the start and finished strongly to beat American two-time World Championships mile relay gold medal winner, Jessica Beard, representing Empire Athletics, 51.82.
Zola Golden, also of Texas University, was third in 52.19.
In the men’s 100m dash, former Munro College student Senoj-Jay Givans, ran 10.23 to win the event for Texas University. Chedlin Sageese of Barton Country was second in 10.28.
Former Edwin Allen athlete Ranee Ricketts, now representing Clemson, was second in the B section 100m, won by her teammate Angelica Collins in 11.51.
