The 14th Wesley Powell Heart Institute of the Caribbean Track & Field Meet gets going at 8:30am on Saturday, December 10th at Excelsior High School.
The only over-distance track meet scheduled for the day, the Organizers have put a lot of things in place to make it an experience for Athletes, Coaches and Spectators, ranging from Ice-bath stations provided by Pure National Ice to Free Wi-Fi powered by Flow for LIVE Results. The organizers have also creatively integrated music into the meet that will have fans talking about it for a while.
The Heart Institute of the Caribbean, who is the title sponsors, hosted a workshop today at Excelsior High School for Student-athletes, Coaches and Parents on the topic “Healthy Hearts and How to Know Your Heart is Healthy.”
The attendees interacted with the HIC Cardiologists’ during the session, which they learned about how they can get screened and some of the signs to look out for.
The Meet is being staged on the only 9-Lane 400m track in Jamaica and will have some 76 events for Open athletes as well as all Classes for Girls and Boys in events including the 150m, 300m, 600m, 1000m, 3000m, 5000m, 4x300m Relay, Long Jump, High Jump, Discus, Shot Put and Javelin.
