American sprinter, Cierra White, is in search of “some good things” at today’s (April 22) Bermuda Invitational meet here at the National Sports Centre.

“I am really excited about this meet,” said White while adding, “I expect to do some good things.”

White said training is going well and now “I just want to keep improving and show what I have been doing in training."

In today’s 100m, she faces fellow Americans, Taylor Evans and Dominique Booker, along with Nigerian, Olivia Ekpone and Bahamian, Cache Armbirster.

“I just want to see where I am at right now,” added the 11.09 sprinter while noting “I still have a little bit more time in the year to keep working and drop some good times.”

Despite that, however, White who is yet to represent USA in any major competition said “I just want to get a good opener, maybe 11.3 or better.”

The 22-year-old, like any other athlete, the 2016 aim is to get to Rio for the Summer’s Olympics.

White, the NACAC Under-23 sprint double champion at 100m (11.23) and 200m (23.05) in 2014 spoke of the areas of her race in need of work.

“I need to work on my start and know how to push out more, because I know these girls can get out, I need to work on my transmission to maintain the rest of my race, just finish strong and stay relaxed throughout my races,” explained the former Texas Tech sprinter.

The USA may have the most sub-11 sprinters in the world, but at no time White is worried about who she is going up against.

“I am not worried about the competition, I’m just worried about myself,” she added while adding “as long I believe in myself and keep working hard, I think I can so it.”
