Tough Day 4 in Cali for Caribbean athletes

DAY 4-WYC Cali Colombia

It was a light day 4 for the region at the World Youth Championships (WYC) in Cali, Colombia.

On the mats, Lushane Wilson 2.11 (JAM) took the 6th place position in the high jump. Italian Stefano Sottile won with a world leading youth mark of 2.20m.

Junelle Bromfield 58.49 (JAM) earned herself a 7th place finish in the 400mH, which was won by Sydney McLaughlin of USA in a Championship Record 55.94.

Rivaldo Leacock 51.13 (BAR) set a new personal best for 4th in the 400m hurdles final, while Javauney James (JAM) was disqualified from the men’s section. Norman Grimes of USA won the event in 49.11.

Shaneil English will be the only Jamaican in the 200m final. She qualified for the women’s final with 24.07, the slowest time going in on the final day.

Shellece Clark of Jamaica failed to make progress with 24.72, so too was Xavior Angus with 21.58.

Jamaica and Bahamas failed to qualify for the final of the mixed 4×400.
