Elaine Thompson races to 22.10 clocking in London

Elaine Thompson has sent a strong message to her rivals ahead of next month’s IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China (Click here to watch video of the race).

Thompson, who is a serious contender for the 200m gold in Beijing, ran a lifetime best 22.10 seconds to win at Saturday’s Sainsbury's Anniversary Games, London Diamond League meeting. American Allyson Felix leads the world with 21.98.

Thompson dismissed Americans Tori Bowie, who was right up on her shoulder entering the homestretch, and early challenger Candyce McGrone, the second fastest woman this year with 22.08.

Bowie was second in 22.32 and McGrone third in 22.70 while Tiffany Townsend ended fourth in 22.83.
