Track And Field Splits Action In California

, Mis Senior Erica Bougard captured two wins in her first multi event of the 2015 season at the first of three meets for the Mississippi State track and field teams this week at the Mt. SAC Multi Invitational. The other two meets MSU will be taking part in this week will be the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

At the Mt. SAC Multi Invitational Bougard competed in the heptathlon, where she placed first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.29 to acquire 1,081 points. With a clearance of 5-10.50, Bougard went on to finish second in the high jump claiming 966 points. In the shot put, Bougard collected 588 points with a throw of 35-08.75 to finish 14th. The final event was the200m dash where Bougard ran a personal-best of 23.65 to collect her second win and 1,015 points. Bougard will conclude the heptathlon on Thursday.  

The Mt. SAC Relays begin Thursday night for MSU with the 10,000m run. Andrew Monaghan, Damian Roszko and Curtis Kelly will be running in the event.

Events will resume Friday at 10 a.m. PDT with Jovan Davis in the 110m hurdles, while Erica Bougard and Ste’yce McNeil compete in the 100m hurdles.

Distance Runners Patrick Monaghan and Rhianwedd Price will take part in the 1500m run. Price holds the nation’s sixth fastest  time in the event.

After setting the school record in the 400m hurdles last weekend, Ocian Archer will again be competing in the event for the Bulldogs, while Shayla Luckett and Kimari Martin compete in the 400m run.

Concluding Friday’s running events will be Cornelia Griesche and Emma Neigel in the 3000m steeplechase.

In the field on Friday for the Bulldogs will be Ebony Brinker and Tiffany Flynn in the triple jump, Curtis Thompson in the javelin throw and Tautvydas Kieras in the discus throw.

Saturday’s events at the Mt. SAC Relays will kick off with Alfred Larry in the 400m run at 2 p.m.

Brandon McBride will make his first outdoor appearance of the season in the 800m run. Also on the track Saturday, Davis and Scottie Hearn will be in the 400m hurdles for the Bulldogs.

Marcus Jackson will be the only MSU athlete in the field events Saturday. Jackson currently holds the nation’s second best clearance in the high jump.

Five Bulldogs will be competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on Friday.

Sasha-Gaye Marston set the MSU school record in the discus earlier this season and will be competing in the event this weekend as well as the shot put.

Juston Waters and Charles Taylor will compete in the 400m run, while Rodrigo Rocha takes part in the 100m run. All three will go on to compete in the 200m run as well.
