FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Auburn senior DJ Smith and junior Jessie Johnson recorded top-5 finishes at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

“I am very pleased with how we performed this weekend,” head coach Ralph Spry said. “We were able to come in and get All-American honors, and Jessie was able to break her school record. Indoor season is always a grind for us because of the weather, but we were able to gain some momentum as we head into the outdoor season.”

Smith tied for fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 7-2.5/2.20m to earn four points. The Atlanta native cleared 6-10.75/2.10m on his first attempt before passing on 7-0.5/2.15m, and cleared 2.20m on his first attempt.

Johnson broke her school record for the fourth time this season, clearing 14-1.25/4.30m, to finish fifth. Johnson set the mark on her second attempt, bettering her previous record of 15-0.5/4.28m.

Auburn will kick off the outdoor season at the Texas Relays and Alabama Invitational on March 26-28.
