IPC Athletics has announced that the 2015 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, will now take place between 22-31 October, four weeks earlier than originally announced, in order to avoid infrastructure improvements planned in and around the city.
To avoid any inconvenience and disruption these works may cause para-athletes attending the biggest international para-athletics event ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, IPC Athletics agreed with the Organising Committee to bring the event forward.
Despite the date change, the 10-day event, which is expected to attract 1,300 athletes from 90 countries, will still be held at Doha's 15,000 capacity Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, home to the Qatar Sports Club.
The venue was used for the 2011 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup and its eight lane track annually hosts the first International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Diamond League meeting of the year.
Adjacent to the Stadium there is also an eight lane warm-up track, whilst eight lane tracks at the Al Saad Club and the Al-Arabi Club will be used as training venues for teams.
Classification for next year's event will take place between 18-21 October.
Lyon, France hosted the last IPC Athletics World Championships in 2013, whilst London will stage the 2017 event.
