TORONTO, Canada – Athletics Canada has launched the 2018 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Championships to be held in Toronto on August 10-12.

Set to be held at Varsity Stadium, it will be branded “Toronto 2018: Track & Field in the 6ix”.

More than 600 athletes from 31 countries are expected. A minimum prize fund of C$160,000 (US$128,000) has been allocated for each event.

Athletics Canada plans to field a full team that features its top track and field athletes, including Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse, World medallists Melissa Bishop and Aaron Brown, along with up and coming stars such as Brittany Crew and Alysha Newman.

Event winners will receive an automatic berth to the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, pending approval of their respective national federation.

Some 15 000 fans are expected on site and CBC coverage for the event is confirmed.
