ELMHURST, USA –  Jamaican athlete Teivaskie Lewin was named the Summit League’s Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. The University of South Dakota Sophomore hurdler and jumper set the league’s best 60-meter hurdles record of the season last weekend.  It’s the second time he has won the honor.

Lewin, a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, won the event in 7.95 seconds at the Bill Bergan Invitational in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday (1 Feb). The time bested his previous league-best mark of 7.97 and ranks 39th in the nation.  He also added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

Omaha’s Sami Spenner earned women’s honors for a league-record eighth time in her career, including the second this season. She posted the third-best pentathlon scored in the world this year, and the top score in the U.S. according to the International Association of Athletics Federations’ rankings.
