The most talked-about event in Jamaica is finally here. The ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships (Champs 2022) will be held from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Saturday, April 9, 2022.

The event, which took place behind closed doors last year, sees the return of spectators.
On the boys’ side, Defending champions Jamaica College will have a hard time keeping their title, as the powerful Kingston College is confident of their 33rd title success. The build-up so far makes the first three days a must-see, especially with the revised schedule, with some experts predicting the championships could be over before Saturday.
Edwin Allen appears to be in pole position to defend their title; however, St. Jago High and Hydel High, who both scored more than 300 points last year for second and third, will aim for another strong performance this year.
Notwithstanding the schools with title aspirations being the main talking points, several outstanding athletes will be on display.
Heading the list is the classy Clayton twins now competing in class one. Hydel’s Briana Lyston, who missed last year’s championships due to the transfer eligibility rules, is back with something to prove. Kingston College’s Jaydon Hibbert will take centre stage in the triple jump, while Jamaica College’s J’Voughnn Blake will be aiming to break the class one boys 800m record.
Expect fireworks in all the male 100m sprints.
