Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran a world-leading 11 seconds flat in an unfavourable 2.2m/s wind at Saturday’s (7 July) Velocity fest held at Jamaica College.
This came a week after previous world leader Sha’Carri Richardson ran 11.05 in Florida.
Fraser-Pryce, Doha 2019 World champion, ran 11 seconds flat to beat Shashalee Forbes of Sprintec, 11.49. The wind reading was -2.2m/s.
Bahamian Anthonique Strachan finished third in 11.84.
Nesta Carter, 10.38, won the men’s 100m ahead of Tyquendo Tracey, 10.39s and Romario Williams, 10.39.
Elaine Thompson loses to Sherikca Jackson
In the women’s 200m (-2.2m/s wind), Doha 2019 400m bronze medallist Shericka Jackson ran 22.89 to finish heat three ahead of Elaine Thompson; the Rio Olympic Games sprint double champion, 22.98.
Forbes ran 23.45 for third and Ronda Whyte, also of Sprintec, finished fourth in 23.93.
Julian Forte won the men’s 200m (-2.9m/s) in 20.71 ahead of Rasheed Dwyer, 21.06 and Romario Williams, 21.07.
Tajay Gayle, Shanieka Ricketts win
World long jump champion Tajay Gayle topped his pet event with a wind-assisted 8.52m (4.5m/s wind)
Doha 2019 triple jump silver medallist, Shanieka Ricketts, won her pet event with 14.11m.
Tovea Jenkins of Sprintec, 53.83 beat Junelle Bromfield of MVP, 54.06, in the women’s 400m.
Megan Tapper won the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.25 ahead of Amoi Brown, 13.46s.
Janieve Russell topped the women’s 400m hurdles in 57.29 ahead of Ronda Whyte, 57.97.
Tissanna Hickling topped the women’s long jump with 6.60m.
