Cedricka Williams of Holmwood was responsible for Champs 2021 first record. Her record mark came on Wednesday’s (12 May) second day of the five-day ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships in Kingston.
The Class 2 athlete threw the discus 47.04 meters to erase the old mark of 46.69m set in 2018 by Marie Forbes of Vere.
Williams’ winning throw got the better of Damali Williams of Edwin Allen, 43.72m and Britannie Johnson of Camperdown, 42.32m.
In the Class 3 girls’ long jump, Natrillia Campbell of Wolmer’s topped the field with 5.42m (+4.1m/s wind). Rihanna Chambers of St. Catherine, 5.40m and Toniann Allen of Edwin Allen, 5.22m, took the minor places.
Leonie Samuels of Rusea’s won the Class 1 girls’ shot put with 13.21m. She beat Monifa Edwards of Edwin Allen, 12.97m and Kayla Davis-Edwards of St. Jago, 12.67m.
Edwin Alen picked up nine points in the Class 2 girls’ high jump after Rasheda Samuels cleared 1.73m to beat Wolmer’s Malaika Cunningham, 1.70m.
St. Jago’s Balvin Israel leapt 7.32m for victory in the Class 2 boys’ long jump final. He beat Amari Officer of St. George’s College, 7.16m and Nathan Wade of Calabar, 7.13m.
