Four Jamaicans, Kimberly Williams, Shadae Lawrence, Clayton Brown and Roje Stona, were individual winners at last week’s Florida State University Relays in Florida, USA.
Olympian Williams topped the women’s triple jump with 14.54 ahead of Natricia Hopper of Florida 13.63m.
Lawrence took the women’s discus with an excellent 62.88m throw to beat fellow Jamaican Shanice Love, representing Florida, 58.13m. Nayoka Clunis finished fourth with 51.56m and Danielle Sloley of Clemson, 42.31m
Stona of Clemson won the men’s discus throw with 60.87m ahead of Milton Ingraham of Florida, 57.90m. Jordan West of Tennessee was third with 53.99m while Zico Campbell of Clemson finished eighth with 48.11m.
Brown, representing Florida, won the men’s triple jump with 16.57 ahead of Jalen Tate of Tennessee 16.01m.
Jamaican Andrew Riley picked up second in the men’s 110m hurdles, running 13.58 to finish behind Trey Cunningham of Florida State, 13.51.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, former Jamaica junior and Manchester High athlete Sidney Marshall ran 13.48 for second behind Alexis Duncan of Tennessee, 13.45.
Trishauna Hemmings of Clemson finished second in the women’s 200m. Hemmings’ 23.69 placed her only behind Tennesse’s Maia McCoy, 23.46.
Jamaicans Shian Hyde of Florida was fourth in 24.16, and Saqukine Cameron, 16th in 24.84.
Hemmings helped Clemson win the women’s 4x100m relay in 44.50 in South Florida, 45.12.
Lloydricia Cameron finished second in the women’s shot put with 17.48m, beaten by American Latavia Maines, 17.73m.
Other Jamaicans Nayoka Clunis of Tennessee, 16.07m, and Danielle Sloley of Clemson, 14.28 were sixth and 10th, respectively.
Bahamian Doneisha Anderson, representing Florida, ran 54.95 for third in the women’s 400m. Taylor Manson of Florida won the event in 52.02 ahead of Kiah Seymour 53.83.
Fabian Hewitt of Clemson, 21.18 and Chantz Sawyers of Florida, 21.48, finished fourth and seventh in the men’s 200m.
