Usain Bolt wins Ostrava farewell

OSTRAVA – Usain Bolt bade farewell to Ostrava with victory in the 100m in 10.06 (-0.3m/s wind) ahead of Cuba’s Yunier Perez (10.09) and the former Jamaican, Jacques Harvey now under the Turkish flag as Jak Ali Harvey (10.26).

Wayde Van Niekerk eclipsed Michael Johnson’s 17-year-old world 300m best of 30.85, clocking 30.81 at the Ostrava Golden Spike.

Only three men have ever broken the 31-second barrier for 300m: Van Niekerk (30.81), Johnson (30.85) and Usain Bolt (30.97).

Botswana’s Isaac Makwala was second in 31.44 ahead of South Africa’s Clarence Munyai who set a world U20 best of 31.61 with Pavel Maslak fourth in a Czech record of 31.80.5
