EUGENE (USA): Track Town USA president Vin Lananna confirmed he would run for the presidency of USA Track & Field.

If elected by the USATF membership in December, Lananna would replace Stephanie Hightower, who has served two terms as president, the limit for the office.

Lananna said he intends to retain his dual position as Track Town USA president and University of Oregon. He also will serve as head men’s track & field coach for Team USA at next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

For now, he is the only known candidate to succeed Hightower.
