The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago regrets to inform stakeholders that the Spirit of Sport Awards 2014 is indefinitely postponed. The Company, in reviewing its operational plan as well as those the NGBs under our purview, noted that in a pre-Olympic year, several sporting organisations as part of the pathway model will take part in qualification events and intense training programs in anticipation of Rio 2016.

The Company therefore had to carefully reprioritise the allocation of its resources, financial and otherwise, and determine what would yield the best value for money. This was also done against the backdrop of the Ministry of Finance indicating that Ministries and state agencies must review their operations with a view to cutting costs.

The Company's team, over the last three years, has worked assiduously to establish the SOSAs as a key event on the country's sporting landscape. While there is a level of disappointment as a result of the postponement of the Awards, the Company is confident that the decision is in the best interest of the nation's athletes, teams and their Olympic aspirations. Work has already begun on ensuring that the SOSAs make a triumphant return at the 2015.?
