HAMILTON, Bermuda – The 2nd staging of the Bermuda Invitational is on Saturday, July 1 here at the National Sports Centre.
Wallace Spearmon, Oshane Bailey, Lalonde Gordon and Samantha Henry-Robinson, all winners of global medals, will be on show.
Henry-Robinson of Jamaica, Kierre Beckles of Barbados take on five Americans, chief among them Alexis Love, in the women’s 100m dash.
The men’s 100m will have Jamaicans Oshane Bailey and Ryan Shields, along with Bermudians Kyle Webb and Harold Houston as well as Ramon Gittens of Barbados.
Jamaica’s World Junior champion Tiffany James and Sada Williams of Barbados are the only Caribbean women in the half lap event, which also features Americans Alexandra Anderson and Dominique Booker.
James is also listed for the women’s 400m, alongside Sparkle McKnight of Trinidad and Tobago.
The men’s 200m will feature Wallace Spearmon, who along with his three individual World Championships medals, helped USA to the 4x100m title in Osaka. He will face Jamaicans Oshane Bailey, Ryan Shields and Jamari Rose. Also in the field will be Trinidad and Tobago’s 2012 Olympic 400m bronze medallist Lalonde Gordon.
Rose, fellow Jamaican Jermaine Gayle, along with Guyanese Winston George are down for the men’s 400m. This event will also have American Calvin Smith.
Deuce Carter of Jamaica, Ronald Forbes of Cayman Islands, Devon Hill of Guyana are listed for the men’s 110m hurdles.
Women’s 100m hurdlers, Jamaicans Monique Morgan and Nickiesha Wilson, along with Barbadian Kierre Beckles face off with Americans Bridgette Owen-Mitchell and Kaila Barber.
Jamaican Saniel Atkinson-Grier and Bermudian Sakari Famous take on Americans Tynita Butts and Elizabeth Evans in the women’s high jump.
Jamaal James of Trinidad and Tobago carries the Caribbean flag in the men’s 800m while homegirl Jessica Lewis is down for the women’s two lap event.
Bermudian duo of Tyrone Smith and Bruce De Grilla are in the men’s long jump.
