Yohan Blake ran a season-best 10.05 while Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m team is closing to qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.

Blake, the Deagu 2011 world 100m champion, ran his best time this season to win the men’s 100m at Saturday’s (8 May) Jamaica Qualifying Time Trials held at GC Foster College in Spanish Town.

Oshane Bailey finished second in 10.13, and his Sprintec teammate Romario Williams, third in 10.16.

In the men’s 4x100m, Jamaica’s Gold Team, led off by Asafa Powell to Julian Forte, Blake and Bailey crossed the finish line in 38.33.

Jamaica Green with Ackeem Blake, Nigel Ellis, Romario Williams and Kadrian Goldson finished second in 39.55.

St. Vincent with McKish Compton, Javon Rollins, OJ Jackson, and Akani Slater finished third in 40.13.

Roneisha McGregor won the women’s 100m in 11.35 ahead of Indian Srabani Nanda, representing MVP, in 11.61.

Shericka Jackson of MVP topped the women’s 200m in 22.62 ahead of her teammate Stephenie-Ann McPherson, 22.98. Shashalee Forbes of Sprintec finished third in 23.03.

The men’s 200m went to Anthony Carpenter of Legacy Athletics in 20.88. Rasheed Broadbell of MVP finished second in 20.95.

Tiffany James-Rose of Cameron Blazers ran 52.45 to win the women’s 400m ahead of Junelle Bromfield of MVP, 53.12.

Akani Slater of GC Foster College won the men’s 400m in 46.41. He beat Jaheel Hyde of Swept, 46.65.

Janieve Russell of MVP, 55.45 and Ronda Whyte of Sprintec, 56.29, were the only two competitors in the women’s 400m hurdles.

O’Dayne Richards of MVP won the men’s shot put with 19.67m, and Shawn-D Thomspon of GC Foster topped the men’s long jump with 7.28m.

Lushane Wilson of GC Foster College cleared 2.18m in the men’s high jump and Kimberly Williamson 1.75m in the women’s section.
