Lushane Wilson of St. Jago cleared 2.15m at Saturday’s Carifta Games Trials at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Wilson, who completed in the Under-18 section, won over Ryan Cole Brown of Old Harbour 1.95m. The mark was a personal best for Wilson.

Wilson was extremely happy with the end result, saying he hopes to continue improving in the event.

Lushane WilsonMeanwhile, in other field events from Saturday’s first day, Tamara Moncrieffe of Holmwood took the Under-20 girls triple jump with a leap of 12.99 over Britany Kerr of Hydel 12.25.

Shanice Love of Excelsior was the Under-20 discus throw winner with 48.70 over Edwin Allen’s Paul-Ann Gayle 45.74m. Rochelle Frazer of Edwin Allen was 5th with 43.07.

The Under-18 girls discus throw went to Shyledeen Smith of Petersfield with 42.09 over Hydel’s Devia Brown 40.86m.

Ayesha Champagne of St. Andrew Tech topped the girls’ Under-20 javelin field with 46.75 over UWI’s Isheka Binns 43.94m

Sahjay Stevens of St. Elizabeth Tech 42.40m beat Devia Brown of Hydel 36.68m in the Under-18 girls discus.

In the Under-18 girls long jump, Excelsior High’s Ave-Anna Vernair 5.86m beat Tissanna Hickling of St. Jago 5.80m.

Lotavia Brown of Edwin Allen 12.13m won the triple jump for Under-18 girls over Lorean Murray of St. Andrew High 12.07m

IMG 2492On the boys’ side, Kyle Mitchell of Wolmer’s put the shot 17.78 metres to beat Kevin Nedrick of Petersfield 16.81m in the Under-18 section.

Demar Gayle of Edwin Allen took the Under-20 boys discus throw with 52.75m over Kino Dunkley of Munro 49.33m.

Delton Foote of Frome 55.97m and Kevin Nedrickof Petersfield were the Under-20 and Under-18 winners of the boys’ javelin.
